In Search of Instruments

After a brief look around Maceio when I arrived, I concluded that there really weren’t any decent shops to buy musical instruments for the school.

So I decided to go to Salvador, state capital of Bahia, about 600km South of Maceio. That place is like another world I tell you. It oozes with music. I’ve been to Salvador 3 times now so I knew what I was in for.

The video at the bottom of this page shows me cruising around the different music shops in Salvador and using the donation money to purchase loads of instruments. There’s one typo in the movie where a subtitle asks “What do you get for AUD1,200?”. It was actually R1,200 reais that I spent so it should have read AUD800).

The video below is also a thank you to everyone who donated money for this cause. I raised significantly more than I had hoped thanks to people’s generosity. Thank you all so much!! You can now see exactly where your money went.

The music to this video is another original composition by me, recorded and arranged here in my little mobile music studio. Hope you like it. (Here is a picture of me at work making my music – all the equipment is on the dining room table in my appartment, so I have nowhere to eat, but I have my priorities spot on; music always wins).

If you actually click on the video below where it says “You Tube” it will open a new window with a much larger player. The video is in High Definition – so click that little HD button for maximum enjoyment!
